Captain Jason Kintner -- Trophy Blue Catfish Guide
Trophy Blue Catfishing on the Potomac River, 812-201-3399

My whiskerfish obsession started at a very young age, on the muddy banks of the Wabash River in Southern Indiana. Over 40 years have passed and I'm still every bit as obsessed, today, as I was then. Over the years, I have traveled all across the United States to fish many of our Great Country's finest catfish rivers: the Ohio, Mississippi, Tennessee, Maumee, Muskingum, and many others. I've even caught Wels catfish in Italy! As good as these catfisheries are, in my opinion, none compare to the Potomac River. The Potomac harbors great numbers of blue catfish, many of which are of trophy class size. Year-round, and like no other river that I know of, the Potomac River affords anglers a well-above average opportunity to catch a true river monster. That's where I come in. During each and every outing, I will do everything within my abilities to ensure that you land that blue catfish of a lifetime!

Having fished from many boats, I believe that the fishability and, most importantly, the safety of a West Coast/Alaskan-style boat is 2nd to none. You will fish from a 21 foot Hewescraft Sea Runner, which has a "deep v" hull for a smooth ride in all conditions. My boat features a spacious fishing cockpit, two large bench seats with padded backs, two bucket seats, a bimini top, and a full vinyl enclosure for those cold, blustery days. For added safety, its gunnels are a bit higher than those found on many other river boats. It's powered by a reliable 150 HP Yamaha four stroke outboard motor.

I fish with Bottom Dwellers Tackle Catfight rods, paired with either Shimano Tekota reels or Penn Fathom reels. Please, don't worry if you've never fished with a baitcasting reel -- I do ALL of the casting of baits, meaning all that you have to do is reel them in! Please let me know in advance of our outing if you are a lefty. These are tough, proven rod and reel combos; however, if you'd like to bring your own rods, you may. Regrettably, I cannot assume responsibility or liability for broken rods, stripped reel gears, or hurt feelings :-(
